Application of re-plate

The latest processing guidelines (method statement) must be followed when applying re-plate. They provide detailed information on the individual application steps. On-site conditions and the quality of the concrete substrate must be checked as preparatory work.

Preparation

1 Fully remove any coatings, insulation, painting etc. from the area before strengthening

2 Clean re-plate accordingly to the method statement and temporarily fix the strip with T-struts

Bilateral (both ends) anchorage

3  Drill the substrate through the prepunched re-plate ends

4  End anchor mechanically using the Hilti bolt direct fastening system with tested stainless-steel bolts (X-CR 48 P8 S15)

Activation of prestressing

5  Segment-wise heating with gas burner

Temperature control by sensor and protocol

Corrosion protection

Corrosion protection of re-plate is essential against moisture and chlorides in the environment. The corrosion protection also serves as an intermediate layer for paint coats, gypsum, or other plastering mortars.

7  After cooling: re-plate is cleaned and dryed according to the method statement. re-plate is sealed on all sides with Sikaflex® PRO-3 Purform to prevent water ingress between concrete substrate and the strip.

8  Macropoxy® EG-1 Plus (former SikaCor® EG-1 Plus) corrosion coating is applied (two-layer, void filling)

Completion

9  Depending on the situation: Attach safety straps at intervals of approx. 1.5 m (as additional protection in the event of failure, e.g. mechanical damage)

8  Further works (plastering, painting, suspended ceiling, etc.)

On demand

11  Corrosion protection intermediate coating Macropoxy® EG-1 Plus (formerly SikaCor® EG-1 Plus) is applied to both sides of the re-plate at the factory

12  Activate the prestressing with the re-IR 3000 infrared radiant heater, check and protocol the temperature

13  After cooling, also grout the sides of the re-plate (Sikaflex® PRO-3 Purform) and completely coat again with Macropoxy® EG-1 Plus (formerly SikaCor® EG-1 Plus), incl. anchoring direct fasteners
