Re-Fer

Description
In the framework of a general renovation of an industrial facility, re-plate (in total over 250 m) strips were used as a flexural strengthening technique for reinforced concrete slabs. The strips with lengths ranging from 5 to 15 m were prestrained in the re-fer plant, delivered on site and installed at the defined location. After anchoring them against the concrete substrate with a Hilti direct fastening system, the strips were activated stepwise with an infrared heater up to 160°C. At the end, the resulting prestressing force was controlled with a “cross-bow” device. Fire protection is guaranteed due to SikaCem® Pyrocoat.
