Re-Fer

Description
Due to increased loads and new requirements in the standards, small deficits with regard to shear punching had to be strengthened in a commercial building on Bahnhofstrasse in Zurich.

re-bars were used to supplement the existing steel reinforcement. In the critical areas, the concrete was roughened to apply a new mortar layer. The re-bar system with end hooks was used to achieve a robust, pre-stressed solution. Thanks to the active load-bearing reinforcement, no additional deformation of the concrete slab is necessary to tension the bars (less cracks and relief for the internal reinforcement).
