Strengthening of historic masonry, Altes Bauamt
Description
The listed «Alte Bauamt» in Dietikon’s Kronenareal has already experienced quite a bit since it was built in 1777. Now another chapter is to be added to its history; A core renovation with refurbishment measures of the rubble stone masonry.
Due to differential settlement, the sandstone walls showed cracks and defective lime mortar joints. With the help of re-bar, the critical areas could be prestressed and stabilised in the horizontal direction. For this purpose, a specialist cut grooves into the masonry and re-bar were embedded in Sika MonoTop®.
